Snow day

Phil Riddle

Mother Nature sneaked in Thursday sending school kids home early and snarling traffic.

Schools in the area let out early as snow, sleet and rain turned roadways into slush when the storm, which dropped as much as eight inches of snow in parts of Parker County, ripped through about five hours ahead of predictions.

While most areas of North Texas got snow, the heaviest accumulations were to the north and west of Tarrant County. Northern Parker and Wise Counties were among the hardest hit.

Public schools in Weatherford, Peaster, Poolville, and Springtown are closed today. Trinity Christian Academy in Willow Park and Victory Baptist Academy in Weatherford have also shuttered because of the storm.

Weatherford College is running on its regular schedule.

Poll

The Air Force Academy recently graduated their first openly gay cadets. What does this signify?

Nothing. There have always been gay cadets, they just haven't been open.
A step backward. Sexual orientation issues shouldn't be a part of the military.
A step forward. The military needs to be open to people of all backgrounds.
No opinion.
