Man arrested for spying on teenager

SPRINGTOWN —

A Springtown man has been accused by police of recording a video of an 18-year-old woman showering at his home while using a “spy pen” without her consent.

A second-grade teacher at a Fort Worth elementary school, Brian Paul Weaver, 38, turned himself in to authorities and is charged with improper visual recording without consent, according to a Springtown Police affidavit.

The “spy pen,” which functions as a pen with a camera attached, was taken by one of Weaver’s children to school, where it was discovered by another student and given to a teacher, Sgt. Shawn Owens of the Springtown Police Department said.

“One of the children in Brian Weaver’s home took the pen to school thinking it was just a pen, and that’s where at the school it was discovered as more than just a pen,” Owens said.

Once the pen was discovered to have video footage, it was sent to the principal and assistant principal for review.

According to the affidavit, Weaver’s sleeve was caught in the video setting up the camera, but the teenager was still unidentified.

Weaver’s wife, Dionne, who was already at the school helping with a fundraiser, was brought in to the principal’s office, where she recognized her bathroom on the footage, according to the affidavit.

Dionne Weaver told police she recalled the morning the girls were at the house and said only her son and husband were home.

Dionne Weaver said the girl visitors were getting ready for a pep rally, and Brian Weaver told the girls “to get their showers, which is something he never does,” she said in the affidavit.

Weaver’s wife called and asked her husband if he knew anything about the incident and he said no, according to the affidavit.

After Dionne Weaver told him he better not try to pin it on anyone else, Brian Weaver admitted to the incident, the affidavit stated.

According to the affidavit, the couple had the following conversation:

“It was me, she’s 18,” Brian Weaver told his wife.

Dionne Weaver yelled and said, “Are you freaking kidding me? That’s your excuse, she’s 18?”

Brian Weaver replied, “Please tell me she’s 18.”

After hanging up on her husband, Dionne Weaver returned to the high school and told the principal the information she had discovered, the affidavit stated.

Brian Weaver is currently suspended from his teaching job at Sendera Ranch Elementary and out on bond, which was set at $10,000, Owens said.

The Air Force Academy recently graduated their first openly gay cadets. What does this signify?

Nothing. There have always been gay cadets, they just haven't been open.
A step backward. Sexual orientation issues shouldn't be a part of the military.
A step forward. The military needs to be open to people of all backgrounds.
No opinion.
