Early voting runs through Tuesday

WEATHERFORD — Early voting started Monday, and election officials said the turnout is on par with previous years.

The first three days of voting netted 1,255 ballots cast county wide. Of those, 297 are for the Weatherford City Council and 603 are for the Weatherford College board of trustees.

“The primary benefit for most early voters is the convenience of much shorter lines,” Weatherford Community Relations Manager Danielle Felts said. “However, taking advantage of early voting tends to be crucial to the overall numbers of voter turnout. Statistics show that things tend to unexpectedly come about on Saturdays (election day), keeping voters from the polls. Early voting is simply an avenue of encouraging voter turnout by way of convenience, and convenience is a good thing, especially at such a busy time of the year.”

Additional city councils and school boards on the ballot and their turnout as of Wednesday are: Willow Park, 96; Hudson Oaks, 34; Annetta, 9; Springtown, 63; Springtown ISD, 116; Reno, 17; Millsap ISD, 8; Peaster ISD, 12.

The remaining days for early voting are today, Monday and Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Poll

The Air Force Academy recently graduated their first openly gay cadets. What does this signify?

Nothing. There have always been gay cadets, they just haven't been open.
A step backward. Sexual orientation issues shouldn't be a part of the military.
A step forward. The military needs to be open to people of all backgrounds.
No opinion.
