Commissioners moved one step closer to widening Old Agnes Road Monday when they unanimously approved a $555,200 construction bid from Northeastern Pavers Inc.
To fund a budget shortfall for the project, commissioners authorized the transfer of approximately $140,000 from the Maddox Road project, which has been delayed due to a relocation issue with a water line.
County Judge Mark Riley said original estimates for the improvements assumed the county would provide the labor, accounting for the shortfall.
A start date for the project, which is being funded by the 2008 transportation bond, has not been set.
Other transportation bond milestones include the completion of the realignment of Lution Road, the opening of the new concrete, three-lane roadway and driveways on Pojo Drive South between SH 199 and Goshen, and the start of construction on Church Road between FM 730 and FM 1886.
