WEATHERFORD —
PARKER COUNTY — Gabriel Malayisa Walker, 18, of Fort Worth, and Candi Leigh New, 27, of Mesquite, were arrested by Parker County Special Crimes Unit investigators Tuesday on charges of prostitution.
Investigators conducted an undercover operation at an Interstate hotel in east Parker County after meeting the women online at backpage.com. The suspects had placed explicit, adult advertisements seeking men to pay them cash for sexual encounters.
“We strongly advise parents to monitor where their children are browsing the Internet,” Sheriff Larry Fowler said. “We conduct investigations continuously on all advertising Web sites, monitoring for illegal conduct.”
Walker was arrested and charged with prostitution after she met the SCU officer and accepted a cash payment of $100 to perform sexual acts for one half-hour and another $30 for gasoline to travel to the hotel.
New was arrested and charged with prostitution after she met the SCU officer and accepted a cash payment of $300 to perform sexual acts for one-and-a-half hours. She was additionally charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver after investigators seized 5.8 grams of suspected black tar heroin in her possession along with digital scales, syringes and razor blades.
SCU investigators worked on the cases with a new undercover member of the unit. Fowler and Azle Police Chief Steve Myers agreed on the addition of the unit member this week to expand the unit and include the Azle area.
New and Walker remain in the Parker County Jail as of Wednesday afternoon. Walker’s bond was set at $2,000. New is being held with no bond set for a prior possession of a controlled substance charge out of Dallas County.
