WEATHERFORD —

Weatherford City Secretary Laura Simonds has forwarded the May 8 ballots onto the Parker County Elections Office.

With several last minutes name drops, the ballot now includes Dennis Hooks and Sherry Watson running for mayor, Waymon Hamilton and Joshua Tarbay for Place 3 and Craig Swancy and Eric Matthews for Place 4.

Heidi Wilder and John Rapkoch both removed their names from the ballot earlier this week. Both were filed to run for Place 3.

Rapkoch said he will speak to media next week about his decision to step down from the race.

Documents showing he pled guilty to the felony of stealing a “bovine animal” in Lassen County Superior County in December of 1960 were sent to Simonds. Last week she sent Rapkoch a letter that he could not run for office if he had been convicted of a felony.

Wilder stepped down to put her support behind incumbent Waymon Hamilton. She said she initially filed because Hamilton had not made up his mind on running for re-election.

Early voting is available 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays April 26 through May 4 at the Parker County Annex, 1112 Santa Fe Drive.

Election day polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
